Body lift
For patients who have achieved massive weight loss whether by bariatric surgery or diet and exercise, the remaining excess skin presents an aesthetic and functional challenge. The area that has the biggest impact in the recontouring of the patient are the abdomen, hips, and buttocks, which may require a circumferential excision of redundant skin. The extent and cost of this procedure is highly variable among different patients and can only be determined after a consultation with one of the plastic surgeons.
Arms
For individuals bothered by the appearance of excess skin on the upper arms, a brachioplasty, or arm lift, may be an appropriate option. Whether it is the result of aging or significant weight loss, the excess skin can be eliminated using well placed incisions in the inner portion of the arm to keep the resulting scars hidden from view. A consultation will better determine if you are a candidate for this procedure. Cost ranges from $5000 to $7000, which includes anesthesia and facility fees.
Thighs
Excess skin in the inner thighs can be a result of aging or significant weight loss. If this problem is severe, a thigh lift may be appropriate. An incision is made in the inner portion of the thigh to allow resection of redundant skin. A consultation in the office will allow you to have questions answered regarding this procedure as well as review its risks and benefits. Cost ranges from $7000 to $9000, which includes anesthesia and operating room fees.
Back
The back can have an unsightly excess of skin after significant weight loss. Contouring of the back can be done by several techniques, depending on the amount and type of work that needs to be done. A consultation is needed to determine if liposuction versus a skin resection would achieve the best result. Costs vary widely depending on the extent of the procedure, but generally range between $4000 to $7000, which includes anesthesia and operating room fees.
